2. The Evangeline Two-Step
(a three-fiddle quasi-cajun romp)

Banker security cameras gathered this evidence of the making of Tax Return. We're not really sure what Laura is doing with that minidisc & microphone on Grand Avenue in Williamsburg. Maybe Pierce knows.

Special guests Keefe Murren & Chris Merenda seem to have chimed in on Pierce's song "Kitchen Cleaner".

there might actually be some customer reviews of Tax Return already at CD Baby.

II. DEATH & TAXES

The debut album looked like this:

[ To hear sounds and read reviews, see our page on CD Baby. ]

1. Ducks on the Millpond (Traditional)
2.
Rayna's Dream (By Kristin Andreassen. Featuring the singing of Laura Cortese.)
3.
The Uncloudy Day  (Traditional)
4.
The Jolly Banker (By Woody Guthrie)
5. Ways of the Gangsters (Traditional Tune "Ways of the World" morphed with a Langston Hughes poem about robber barons fighting for Iraq oil in 1941. This track moves to a masterful rhythm track composed on coffin lids and urns).
6. Left Up Cripple Creek
(by Pierce Woodward after "Going to the West"/Traditional).

The Death & Taxes Sequence Committee:

Testimonials in support of "Death & Taxes"

"Willie Nelson meets Laurie Anderson at high noon under the overpass."
– Steve Bloom, Percussionist with the Washington DC band Havana Select

"It's beautiful."
– Rayna Gellert, Old-time Fiddle Icon from Asheville, North Carolina (She might be biased because there's a song inspired by her on this record).

"I secretly slipped it into the CD rotation at a party and two ladies asked what the lovely music was -- so I sold all the copies you gave me and I need more!"
Kristin's Mom

"I'm glad you made that record."
– Danny Knicely, Bluegrass Rock Star from Harrisonburg, Virginia.

IV. LIVE SHOWS

The Jolly Bankers do seem to take a lot of time off (we're bankers, after all).

BUT we do want to let you know about one ongoing event where at least one and sometimes more Bankers are likely to be seen:

Every Sunday – New York, NY. Band Together. Pierce Woodward hosts an informal gathering of musicians who want to play music in the subway in part to raise awareness about conditions at the US prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Also, in part to have fun and network with other politically-minded musicians in New York. If you're interested and you want to join up or find out more, e-mail bandtogether.us@gmail.com.
